KMC Journal is an endeavour spearheaded by Legacy – The History Department of Kirori Mal College. The History Society of Kirori Mal College, has always been driven with a passion for exploring and revisiting the unchartered territories of the past, and approaching the discipline of history through a holistic lens. As such, this initiative is yet another step in Legacy’s aim of facilitating inclusive, path breaking research.

KMC Journal will focus on providing an accessible and holistic platform to scholarship related to the subcontinent. South Asia has been home to some of the oldest civilizations known to mankind, and its cultures have existed in a cosmopolitan, interconnected and ever-changing continuum that spans millennia. Yet as anyone well-versed in history would know, an all-encompassing label is not enough to capture the sociocultural, economic, political and geographical diversity and nuances of a region that houses half the world’s population.

Research in academia has long seemed unapproachable for most students. The nuances of academic writing, along with the ethics of research and the often-cumbersome process of publication make the job very daunting for many. In lieu of this, the English and Hindi component of this journal, KMC Journal of South Asian Studies and Vatayan aims to make both the writing and reading of academic research student-friendly and approachable.
